Brief Introduction of the Music Engineering
Department in Shanghai Conservatory of Music
The
Music Engineering Department in Shanghai Conservatory of Music, founded in
2003, complies with the development trend of music industry and meets the
need of music talented personnel in market. Our education character is to
follow the direction towards integration between music and scientific
technology based on music itself with the endeavor aiming at opening up the
relative curriculum manifesting the mixed disciplines and media development.
Through the active exploration and practice by the professors and students,
we commit ourselves to setting up an emerging discipline featuring pragmatic
use, mixed subjects and integrative characteristics. On the basis of
traditional music, our major puts a greater premium on cultivation of
versatile personalities with worldwide broad vision, business strategy,
modern managerial expertise and special senior skills in music media
transmission and music industrial operation.
Our
department has two subdominant research institutions: “Music Production
Research Institution”, featuring the professional basic courses like music
production, MIDI technology, audio production and the administration of
professional courses;
“Music Engineering Research Institution”, featuring the
professional basic courses like physics, mathematics, computer, video media
science and the administration of professional courses.
Our department has two majors: “Music Audio Master” and
“Management for Music Communication”.
We offer four-year Bachelor Degree, three-year Master Degree and
other general scholar degree, enrolling students from mainland China
(including Hong Kong, Macao and Tai Wan).
We also welcome exchange students from abroad.
“Music
Audio Master”: mainly cultivating students senior skills in music basic
knowledge and the ability of applied composition, media programming in audio
science, audio mastering, enabling them to qualify for pop-song writing,
music audio mastering, music mastering and production in film, TV, media,
information network and other relative areas. The professional courses
include: Foundation of Computer Music, Synthesizing & Sampling of Patch,
Techniques of Music Production, Design for Electronic Music, Design for
Music Project and so forth. The professional basic courses include:
Computer, Acoustics & Temperament, Sight Singing & Ear
Training, MIDI Production, Recording Techniques, Recording Art, Digital
Audio, Harmony, Forms, Polyphony and Fugue B, Orchestra Forms, Applied
Composition and Films TV Music Composition.
